Hi Friends, Family & Everyone else.
2019? Where the heck did 2018 go? It seems like I was just putting away the Christmas decorations for 2017. No, It was 2018. I need to catch up on reality. Okay. Now I'm caught up.
A lot happened this past 2018. I was gone a large part of it thanks to "Cornet Chop Suey". Brian Casserly, the leader of this 7 piece musical marvel is one of my most favorite people to perform with. He is a nonstop purveyor of great music and comedy. He is more than a band leader, he is my friend. Love these guys. This past year "CCS" have traveled to 3 Rivers, CA, Lacey Washington., Alaske Cruise, Sacramento, CA., Penticton, BC., Pismo Beach, CA., Sun Valley, ID., Chandler, AZ., San Diego, CA., Clearwater, FL., I love this stuff.
On a different note, I was fortunate enough to travel to St Louis, MO to perform on the new recording from "Cornet Chop Suey". I had a blast in the studio with the boys. It was 4 days of fun and music and hard work. Our new CD is called "10" since it is the tenth CD put out by this fantastic band. I even get the oportunity to sing my newest song with the band, "Ain't Nobody Here But Us Chickens".
Ahoy! Come join "Cornet Chop Suey" & Jazzdagen Tours on a 7 day cruise to beautiful Cuba. The cruise will feature: Cornet Chop Suey, Tom Hook & The Terrier Brothers, Tom Rigney & Flambeau and the Pieter Meijers Quartet. You won't want to miss this one. We set sail aboard Holland America's, Ms Veendam departing from Ft Lauderdale, Fl. The cruise will be from December 28, 2019 to January 8, 2020. Cuba is a first for Jazzdagen Tours and we're going to have a blast. It will be great.

The beat of life.
The Dick Maley Big Band, formally, the Lakeland Jazz Orchestra was established in March of 2006 as a local area rehearsal band. The group's original intention was to meet once a week to rehearse big band charts that were arranged by band members and local musicians who wanted to hear what their arrangements sounded like, when performed. What happened was, the band sounded very professional and Dick decided to see if he could get the group some paying gigs. No sooner had Dick started talking about the group, a phone call was received from an executive from the Santa Fe Catholic School, located in Lakeland, Fl. The school was looking for a band to perform at their yearly Silent Auction, held at the "Lakeland Center". This was to be the start of many such calls for the "DMBB".
The "DMBB" have made quite a home and name for themselves in the Lakeland area. Since their inception the group has polished their performances and added many needed dance tunes to their expanding repertoire of big band music.
The band has been rewarded for their investment of time and rehearsals with several notable performances over the past few years. One of their greatest accomplishments was their performance with the talented recording artist, Chris Vadala, lead sax man for Grammy award winning artist, Chuck Mangione.
